Located in the CBD of Dunedin, Hayward’s Auction House has been running under many different names since the 1950s. Owners John and Bridgette More took over the business in 2015 and work hard, alongside a team of experienced staff, to run Otago's only full-service auction house.
Hayward’s is the number one choice for people who are clearing estates or downsizing to a smaller homes, and their specialty auctions attract buyers from all over the country. From fine art and antiques, to garden tools, furniture, musical instruments and sometimes even the kitchen sink, Hayward’s will sell it all.
Meet the experts:
John More – Owner
John is responsible for appraising items and ensuring that goods are picked up in a timely manner.
Bridgette More – Owner
Bridgette makes sure that all the vendors are paid and that the auction house runs smoothly and efficiently.
Lyn is well known to all the auction regulars as she has been working at Hayward’s for over 10 years. Lyn is the first point of contact for people when they come into the auction house.
Sue is responsible for identifying and cataloguing items for the Antique & Collectable Auctions. For many years she ran the locally famous shop Broad Bay China so has a great reputation as an expert in this area.
An all-round doer of things, Peter is main driver on the truck, undertakes auctioneering and does all the important little jobs that keep the auction house running smoothly.
Andrew is responsible for taking the photos for the website and social media each week while helping create the auction catalogues. He is interested in photography and early camera equipment.
Currently a Masters’ student at the University of Otago, Liam has been working for the auction house since he was at high school and is a valuable member of the Hayward’s team.
